Day 178: Fruit Salad With Whipped Cream – A Perfect Ending if You Don’t Have Dessert

Just what the doctor ordered

“Don’t be afraid to go out on a limb. It’s where all the fruit is.” Shirley MacLaine

The peaches are almost ripe, and the blueberries are selling for two-fifty a package.  It’s the perfect time to put together a summer fruit salad.

Healthy Benefits – Besides the fact that the fruit is beautiful, BBC News reports that filling the body with fruit and other healthy foods like nuts and high fiber contributes to long-term weight loss.  We all know it’s true, but it’s our job to take and eat – like Eve in the Garden of Eden.

Fruit Psychology – says the best way to include more fruit in the diet is to visualize the fruit salad.  Instead of wasting brain cells thinking about that luscious Brownie a la Mode Sundae with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge dripping off the topping, why not picture a fruit salad?  You get my point.

Eve had one up on us regarding the seductive power of fruit. Today, I put together a tempting dessert.  My husband insisted that fruit is what we all needed.  We’ll see which one gets eaten first.  I’m sure Eve would have had a more difficult time had there been a chocolate moose in the garden.

What do you put in your fruit salad?

  1. Fruit salads are a delicious and tempting summer dessert for me. The older I get the more I actually prefer fruit salad. My favourite fresh fruit to include are strawberries, pineapple, and blackberries. If I can get tree-ripened peaches they are a must as well.

Btw Claudia, I tagged you to do a letter writing meme. If you are up to doing such a thing, you can find it here.
