“Each generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it.” George Orwell
Last night, we went to a concert put on by our young leaders. I was impressed with how they presented themselves with style and enthusiasm.
I like that term, “Young Leaders.” It is a real statement of how they see themselves as a group. In reality, it is the vision of a man who loves to invest in these young people.
Having been in this country for more than twenty years, it’s been my pleasure to watch two generations of young leaders emerge.
When we arrived, we were impressed with a group of students aged 10-12. My husband and I watched them grow and show amazing talent. They went on to win many of the top music awards here in our country. As they have grown, the new generation of young leaders were able to watch them, to take lessons from them, to play along beside them, and to try their hand at leading from time to time.
Being so spoiled by the first group of leaders who excelled, I usually cringed when these younger ones led our music. As time has gone on, they have improved. Last night, they showed us that they were able to pull it off.
I was mostly impressed that two of the now “older group” were invited to come back and sing. To me, they are still the stars. Yet, this young group is making a name for themselves.
What a fun opportunity to watch two generations of stars come along.
